PRELIMINARIES & FINALS:
Friday, April 18th @ The Outland Ballroom (upstairs)
Doors open at 8:00 pm, competition at 9:00 pm
18+ to get in and compete, 21+ to drink
$10 cover at the door
Just the coolest thing to happen to Springfield since Brad Pitt ate Cashew Chicken at Bass Pro! This is the big time, people! It's your chance to show off your sweet air guitar moves in front of a crowd of rock god(dess) worshippers.
Last year contestants registered at the door -- not so this time around. If you want to compete, we strongly recommend you pre-register at The Moxie (anytime they're open). By pre-registering, you guarantee yourself a later preformance slot, behind the suckers who register at the door. Also, you get in for FREE at the door, while the people who didn't pre-register have to pay the full $10... OUCH! You do have to pay $5 when you register, but that's still 50% less than what everyone else pays! Pretty sweet deal, eh?!
Find a couple good air guitarin' songs, pick a cool stage name for yourself (i.e. Bjorn Torak, Oynx Neez, Saucy Jack), start brushing up on your air guitar skills, and go pre-register at The Moxie! You'll also need to bring a five spot ($5) when you pre-register, which covers various administrative fees, alcohol, and women.
You need TWO 60 second clips of the songs you want to air guitar to, burned on CD as two tracks. The first song will be the one you preform to during the preliminary round. If you're selected to proceed to the finals, you will preform to the second song on your CD, as well as a secret song pulled from a hat. When it's your time to rock out, the MC will cue up your music, and away you go. Remember, you are not allowed to have a clip longer than 60 seconds (give or take 5 seconds), so find the best guitar solo you can.
All competitors will show up at The Outland with their preformance CDs in hand. Slots will be determined as such: people who don't pre-register preform first, while the people who DID pre-register preform after them. Once your name is called, your song will be cued up and the stage is yours to rock out to your heart's content. Competitors will be judged for technique, realism, attitude, and all-around performance by a panel of three judges. The TOP FIVE FINALISTS will proceed to the finals, which will be held immediately after the preliminary round. The five finalists will again be scored by our esteemed panel of judges, who will then select the second Ozarks Regional Air Guitar Champion, along with awarding him or her with lots of cool prizes, including a trip to St. Louis to compete in a National Air Guitar Preliminary!
